Data Centre Infrastructure

A Data Centre is a large group of networked computer servers typically used by organizations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data.

We have been involved in multiple new DC builds in Ireland, UK and Mainland Europe with leading Global Data Centre providers.

CET is vastly experienced in the Installation of Cabling Infrastructure required for the operation of Data Centres.

In addition to this we provide services to manage infrastructure upgrades which are frequently required to keep pace with advances in computing and bandwidth requirements. We also provide ongoing maintenance within the Data Centre.

Data Centre networks are of a Highly Critical nature with multiple layers of redundancy. CET has a proven ability to deliver and to work within this critical infrastructure. The confidence and assurance the Client has in CET is borne out by the level of repeat and new business awarded to us.

Because of the quantity and nature of the third party information stored in Data Centres, Security is also of the utmost importance. CET’s in-house management procedures enable us to work seamlessly within this secure environment while adhering to the facility’s particular requirements.

Fibre Optic Services

Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fibre. Fibre optic carries much more information than conventional copper wire and is far less subject to electromagnetic interference.

With today’s technology requiring more bandwidth than ever before optic fibre is one of the solutions that can give a network much greater capacity to carry high amounts of data with minimum cost.

CET has extensive experience and expertise in successfully installing, terminating and commissioning fibre optic infrastructure projects for our clients. All projects, from new campus area networks to a single cable installation are given the same level of attention from every member of the CET Connect Team.

Fibre optic connectivity forms a huge part of Data Centre infrastructure and enables the high bandwidth connectivity required to transmit such large volumes of information. CET is vastly experienced in Data Centre Installations.
Our Fibre Optic Services include:

  • Fibre Optic Network Detailed Design
  • Single mode Fibre Optic Cabling Installations (OS1 & OS2)
  • Multimode Fibre Optic Cabling Installations (OM1, OM2 ,OM3 and OM4)
  • Fusion Splicing, Glue & Polish, Mechanical Crimping
  • Fibre Testing & Certification, including OTDR and OLTS.
  • Full Fibre Optic Network Documentation
  • Data Centre Fibre Optic Solutions
  • Pre Terminated Fibre Optic Solutions
  • Full fibre optic network surveys and documentation
  • Fibre Optic Circuit Troubleshooting

Network Design

CET provides network design assistance to end users and engineers for installation and budgetary requirements.

We are available to provide expertise with regard to network design, existing network health check, advice regarding redundancy concerns, upgrades, speed and connectivity concerns.

CET also has access to manufacturers design teams to form an early alliance between the end user, the installer and the manufacturer. This alliance ensures the project gets the appropriate design specification and equipment, ultimately fulfilling the wishes of the end user.

Fluke Testing

Whether installing new cable, or troubleshooting existing cable, cable testing plays an important role in the process. Common tests for datacom cabling include length, wiremap, attenuation, NEXT, DC loop resistance, and return loss.

As networks evolve, so do the requirements of the cabling infrastructure to support them. New standards are continuously being developed to provide guidelines for cabling professionals when installing, testing, troubleshooting, and certifying both copper and fibre. Whether its 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-T, there are specific requirements and potential pitfalls in implementing these technologies. With 10GBASE-T, it becomes even more critical to keep current with the latest proliferations in cabling and cable testing.

Cable testing provides a level of assurance that the installed cabling links provide the desired transmission capability to support the data communication desired by the users.

The preferred supplier of the test equipment used in cable testing is the Fluke Corporation. It’s a global corporation founded in 1948 by John Fluke a friend and roommate of David Packard when both were working for General Electric.

CET Connect has a number of Fluke DSX 5000 Cable Analysers fully calibrated and with Fluke gold support.

Network M.A.C.S.

Moves, adds and changes (MAC’s) are a set of tasks that IT teams regularly perform to keep equipment up to date and aligned with user requirements and also for an increase or relocation of staff or equipment. A MAC may refer to a small alteration, such as relocating a single network point or it can refer to a large and involved upgrade such as decommissioning offices in one location and relocating services to another site or area within the site.

Network M.A.C’S really illustrate our partnership approach with each client. With this service we are on hand for a number of clients including Genzyme / Sanofi, CIT, HSE, Bausch and Lomb and also Electrical Contractors to carry out works to support office upgrades, staff relocation, additional workstations etc.

This work usually requires a brief site survey and may require us to be on site at short notice to carry out cabling works and modifications. We maintain a flexible operational structure which enables us to provide these services. This is a very important aspect of CET as we try to look at projects from the point of view of our clients.
